We stayed in a Texas for almost 2 weeks, until Caroline's dad got out of the ICU. They discharged him altogether a few weeks ago now, and he's got a double bypass scheduled soon. Hopefully that will go well and he'll keep getting better. Scary stuff.
Caroline's brother Brian and his wife Kim had their baby last week (well, technically I guess just Kim had the baby)! Noelle was born on Oct 23 with apparently no problems or complications at all. Now that Caroline & Derrick are an aunt & an uncle, they're really impatient to see their little niece. Taylor is excited to have a cousin for the first time, too. Congratulations, guys!
For Halloween, Taylor dressed up as Harry Potter, with Joshua as his pet owl, Hedwig. They had fun, and mommy didn't let them get too much candy.
Joshua is still growing fast, and although we didn't realize it, Taylor is, too. Caroline was out shopping with the boys the other week, when Taylor told her that his feet were hurting. Since they were next to Payless Shoes anyway, she took them in, and it turned out that Taylor's shoes were two sizes too small! He picked out some new Lion King shoes, and also got some dressy brown shoes for Church. We feel really bad about not noticing. :-(
Tomorrow, Nov 4th, is Derrick's 30th birthday. He's been in mourning for about 5 years now for his lost youth. Here come the gray hairs, soon to be followed by lack of hair.... Anyway, Caroline took him on a surprise date a couple of days ago when he wasn't expecting it, so he at least he got to go bowling one more time before his back gives out (sob, sob). Don't worry, though- Caroline still has a long time to go; Derrick is vastly older than she is.
