Taylor would like to introduce you to his new little brother! His name is Joshua Aaron, and he was born on Aug 30th at 7:55 am. He weighed 7 lbs, 10.7 oz and was 19 inches long. Mom & Dad were very surprised that he decided to come two weeks before his due date, but they're not complaining at all. He was actually born on his uncle Timothy's birthday. Since Taylor was also born on a family birthday (his Grandma's) you might say that we're not creative enough to come up with our own birthdays and have decided to re-use our families' birthdays. I guess we'll find out in a few years if the trend continues....
We checked into the hospital at about 5:30 pm, and wound up staying there in labor (kind of) all night. It was the first time Taylor had ever spent the night without Mommy and Daddy around. Labor kind of stalled out until the next morning. When Josh finally decided to come, though, he really came fast. The doctor didn't even make it into the room in time to catch his head, but he got there in time for the shoulders and the rest of his body.
We took Mom & Josh home the next evening, and they both seem to be doing fine. Caroline is recovering faster from this delivery than she did with Taylor. Josh is still sleeping a lot (lucky us!).
Joshua is a scrawny little guy- we call him chicken little, because his legs look like drumsticks (except that drumsticks have more meat on them). His fingers, toes, and feet are much longer than Taylor's were, though. He'll be a piano player, and we're thinking he might top out over 6 feet tall. But his arms & legs are so thin you can hardly believe it. He has short fuzzy brown hair. He is obviously a very patient little guy- he doesn't complain when his big brother gives him big slobbery wet kisses, smashes him on the head with a hug, or tugs at his toes to see if he's ticklish.
Even though he's nothing like Taylor, Joshua is still just as cute. He's a little yellow-orange in color; we're thinking that he's going to wind up with a nasty case of jaundice the way Taylor did. But we're sure he'll be fine in a week or so. We're very happy he came to join our family. Hopefully we'll soon have some time (and energy) to scan in more pictures. We had actually ordered an expensive digital camera to make this process go faster, but it still hasn't been shipped (after a month!). Oh well....
